The Megistaspis pages
Megistaspis (= Megalaspis) includes over 20 species in Europe, Asia and North America. They are average to large (sometimes gigantic) trilobites (Max length of the body of some species is up to 400 mm).
You can discover here 3 different Megistaspis JAANUSSON 1956 that vary notably in size, but are rather similar in shape. The russian specimens have been collected et prepared by and at the Paleolab of St Petersburg , and I rely on them for the ID, as I don't have enough reference sources to conclude by myself. I have to amit that these IDs are subject to caution, as the morphological characters I could find about these subspecies (mostly via the beautiful CD of the paleolab) don't always perfectly match with the material I do have.
Anyway, any feedback is welcome here, as usual :)

You can easily note the difference of prep work between the M. triangularis and the 2 other russian bugs. But there is a bias due to the picture size : the left bug measures about 57 mm, the right one about 125 mm.
Soon to come : 2 french Megistaspis from la Montagne Noire (SW France).
