Pseudoharpoides electroluxii ?

 

A new trilobite has been discovered in a living room near Bundenbach. Millions of years after the formation of the Hünsrucks shists, trilobites roam again on the german grounds ! Is this incredible discovery to be compared to the rediscovery of the Coelacanth ? Scientits are on the breach !

 

Specimen description

  • fully prone specimen.
  • matrix free.
  • Small eyes, with lenses clearly visible (under x 10 000 magnification)
  • thoracic segments lateraly defined.
  • Size : diameter : 30 cm.
  • Actual time !
  • Bundenbach.
  • Germany.
  • Remark : nice reddish color.

DIAGNOSE

 

Ordre harpetida ?  
  • Cephalon : semicircular.
  • Fringe inclined, consisting of vaulted inner convex genal roll.
  • Outer bilaminar concave brim, extending posteriorly to long genal prolongations
  • Facial sutures marginal
  • Flat glabella, narrowing forwards, with no furrows visible.
  • Occipital ring flat, probably fusionned.
  • Eyes reduced to prominent tubercles, centraly located on genae
  • External surface of cephalon smooth.
  • Thorax : with 7 segments.
  • Pleurae flattened, with broad and deep axial furrows.
  • Pygidium: micropygous,
  • Subtriangular, short.

Look at these incredible pictures ! :) They are telling us more on trilobite living (and feeding...) habbits than years of scientific researches :)

(Bad) feeding habbits.... Trilos seem to have quick adaptation capacities.
Consequence of the previous image ? Or worse : looking for more "food" ?

 

Note that the new specy is already "on the market" and its prices are quiet high ;)
